In honor of National Brush Day, this post is all about brushing your teeth the right way! You might be thinking that you’ve been brushing your teeth all these years so why would I need to know how to brush my teeth the right way but it’s always a good idea to go back to the basics so you can be sure that you’ve been brushing the right way. Here are some great tips in ensuring that you brush your teeth the right way!

The Perfect Toothbrush – Brushing your teeth the right way begins with making sure that you’ve purchased the perfect toothbrush for you and your family. If you’re having difficulty with selecting the right types for each member of your family, it might be best to speak with your dentist as they may be able to suggest the right brush for your family.

Take Time to Brush – How long do you usually brush your teeth for? If you’re spending less than two minutes brushing then that’s not good. If you want to make sure that your teeth are getting cleaned properly then it would be best if you brush for two minutes if not more. If you’re having trouble reaching that two minutes then try using a stopwatch or putting a timer on to help you reach that goal.

Good Brushing Technique – It is important that you brush your teeth using proper brushing techniques. You want to make sure that while brushing, the brush is tilted to a forty-five-degree angle. Also, make sure that you clean the out and inner surfaces of both your upper and lower teeth as well as the areas that you tend to chew your food on the most. When you brush your teeth make sure that you aren’t brushing too harsh but rather gently in a back and forth movement so that you don’t wear off the enamel on your teeth.

Brush your Tongue – It might not seem that important but brushing your tongue is as important as brushing your teeth. Brushing your tongue helps with the overall hygiene of your mouth plus it helps in eliminating bad breath.

If you still need assistance with brushing your teeth the right way then please speak to your dentist so they help you. Keep those teeth healthy and clean and brush brush brush!
