Dentures replace the area where the teeth are missing from and they have the capability of being able to take them off and on. The great thing about dentures is that they look and feel great, obviously not as good as your natural teeth but pretty close.

How do dentures function?

Dentures are designed to match your flesh color and are designed to fit properly in the mouth. The dentures that are to be placed on the top of the mouth are designed such so that it covers the roof of your mouth whereas the dentures that are placed on the bottom of the mouth is designed in the shape similar to that of a horseshoe.

What are the different types of dentures?

How long will it take for one to get used to wearing dentures?

During the first couple of weeks to the first couple of months, you might feel some discomfort because of the dentures. Initially, you may have trouble speaking and eating with them on but over time you should be able to adapt to them. Also, keep in mind that even though your cheek muscles and tongue adapt to keeping your dentures in places you might feel like your dentures in are loose from time to time. Lastly, when wearing dentures certain minor issues could occur like an uncontrolled flow of saliva, a feeling as if there’s not enough room for your tongue and you might even feel sore or slightly irritated at times but don’t worry as these are all normal issues that could happen. However, if you feel more than a minor amount of irritation and soreness then speak with your dentist right away.
