Welcome to 2017 and Happy New Year!
Every year we all make goals and resolutions to take care of our body and have good health, so why not start with your mouth and show off that smile. If you have made a goal in the past to get something done to your teeth, whether it was to start going to the dentist or to get a dental procedure done then why not start now! There are many things you can do to make sure that your teeth look and feel healthy. The most important thing is to schedule an appointment with your dentist so you can make sure your teeth are clean and healthy.
Good self esteem and confidence start with your smile. If you visit the dentist and they tell you that your teeth are healthy then you do not have to worry about anything. However if your dentist suggests that you need to get some dental work done then you should make sure to schedule an appointment for the proper procedure as soon as you can. The longer you wait, the more work you may have to get done.
Some teeth resolutions for you might include the following:
- Stop grinding your teeth because this can wear down your teeth as well as the enamel. If you do find yourself grinding your teeth, then talk to your dentist about it and you may possibly be given a night guard to wear to help prevent you from grinding your teeth together.
- If you have a habit of biting your nails, that might be another thing to stop doing because you can chip your teeth from this and it also causes you to put stress on your jaws.
- Along with not biting your nails you also want to stop biting into ice.
- Brushing is also very important, you want to make sure that you are brushing your teeth long enough but not hard enough. Rigorous brushing can cause extensive damage to your teeth.
- Lastly, the best habit you can break is to not snack throughout the day especially with foods high in sugar and drinks. You can increase the chances of getting cavities if you are snacking on sweet foods during the day. By not snacking during the day you are helping your dental health as well as your body health, two benefits in one!
If want to start of this year with a healthy smile then do not forget to contact your doctor and make an appointment. Also, remember to follow the guidelines from above to ensure yourself a healthy smile.
